Why is mental health treatment important to our community?
Mental and behavioral health issues affect nearly 25% of all families in California. Effective treatment will improve the quality of life for our clients, families and their communities. Treatment for mental health issues is similar in nature to other chronic conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes. It is most effective with a multi-pronged approach – healthier lifestyle, behavior modifications and medication as needed and that is our model at all of Crestwood’s facilities throughout California.
Who receives treatment at Kingsburg Health Center?
Clients treated at the center are exclusively from Fresno County. They are your family members, friends and neighbors who need treatment in a safe, local environment to allow their families to visit them during treatment and participate in the healing process.
Does the center pose any safety risks to the surrounding community?
Kingsburg Healing Center is a secure facility - safety of our clients and neighbors is one of our top priorities. Statistically, Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers pose no more risk than a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare facility. People seeking help with mental health issues are not criminals. They need an environment where specialists can help them focus on getting better. We do not treat people with primary drug abuse issues, or individuals with a violent criminal history.
How would the sale of the hospital benefit my community?
Hiring locally is a priority. Currently KHC employs 47 people from Fresno County, 7 people from Kingsburg and 5 people from the surrounding communities. In addition, the community will receive financial benefit through sale of the hospital and yearly tax revenues.
